📰 Trump slams NATO allies
and Cuba's blackout protests
Good morning,
US President Donald Trump has lashed out at NATO allies in Ankara, ordering a halt to trade with Spain and renewing his push for Greenland, before later saying there was "a lot of love" in the room.
This comes as the US hit around 90 targets in a second night of strikes on Iran while Tehran targeted bases in three Gulf states, and as Russia banned diesel exports amid deepening fuel shortages.

Major Story

🇺🇸 President Trump lashes out at NATO allies
US President Donald Trump criticised NATO allies at the Ankara summit, saying he was very upset with the alliance over resistance to his Greenland ambitions and members' refusal to help in the war with Iran.
He singled out Spain as a "terrible partner," ordering Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to halt trade with Madrid over its refusal to commit to NATO's 5% defence spending target, the second such instruction since March.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's office said it was treating the remarks as "business as usual," noting that as part of the EU customs union, individual members cannot be singled out on trade.
President Trump also repeated his desire for Greenland, calling it "very important for the United States," prompting Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen to respond that Greenland is "of course, not for sale."
He later softened his tone, saying there was "a lot of love" and unity in the room, as NATO published figures showing European core defence spending would reach $634bn in 2026.

3️⃣ 🇺🇦🇷🇺 Ukraine intensifies attacks on ships in Azov Sea: Ukraine's military said it struck eight small fuel tankers supplying Crimea, with its drone forces reporting 21 vessels hit over 72 hours, the highest number of merchant ships targeted in a 48-hour window since the war began, according to maritime consultancy Ambrey. A Chevron-chartered tanker was separately hit near Novorossiysk, as fuel rationing continues in Crimea.
