🇵🇱🇷🇺 Poland reports Russian incursion

Poland scrambled fighter jets after a Russian Mi-8 helicopter entered its airspace from Kaliningrad near Braniewo, according to the Polish military.

The aircraft crossed roughly 300 metres into Polish territory and remained there for about 42 seconds.

Polish radar tracked the helicopter throughout the incident, while ground units were placed on standby.

The military's Operational Command said the flight could have been an attempt to test Poland's air-defence readiness.

Separately, Russian attacks on Ukraine prompted NATO aircraft to scramble and operations at Lublin and Rzeszow airports to be temporarily suspended.
