and US troops leave Iraq

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte dismissed Russia's nuclear warnings, saying there was no immediate threat to alliance territory and urging allies to stay calm.
This comes as the remaining US and British troops left Iraq, and Washington lifted its blanket restriction on arms exports to Syria.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte dismissed Russia's nuclear warnings at a summit in Brussels, saying there was no immediate threat to alliance territory.
His remarks followed reports that Moscow had warned NATO against cutting off Kaliningrad and threatened to use its full arsenal.
Rutte declined to confirm the contents of the reported letter, saying disclosure was Russia's responsibility.
He said NATO was prepared to defend every inch of its territory and that Russia could not win a confrontation with the alliance.
He urged allies to stay calm, continue supporting Ukraine and increase defence investment.
