🇬🇧 MI5 warns of AI security risks

MI5 chief Sir Ken McCallum warned about AI security risks in his annual threat assessment in London.

He said cases involving hostile states had quadrupled over a decade, primarily involving Russia, Iran and China.

Terrorists have sought to use AI to improve reconnaissance and attack planning, while the technology can also generate individually tailored propaganda.

The agency has established an AI Threat Assessment Centre this year to distinguish genuine risks from exaggerated claims.

Sir Ken also warned that AI could help develop biological weapons, but stressed that this potential misuse had not yet been realised.
