🇮🇷🇺🇦 Iran warns Ukraine of retaliation over Caspian strike

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a deadly Ukrainian attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea "cannot go unanswered", calling it a violation of the UN Charter.

He accused Israel of provoking the strike in an attempt to "drag Europe into its war," saying he conveyed the message in calls with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Iran's foreign ministry said the attack caused the vessel to explode, killing one sailor and injuring several others, and summoned Ukraine's chargé d'affaires in Tehran over the "hostile and criminal act."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv had achieved "very strong results" with long-range strikes in the Caspian, targeting vessels carrying military cargo linked to Iran as well as a warship, and accused Russia of passing satellite imagery of Gulf states and US facilities to Tehran.

A senior Iranian lawmaker warned that Ukraine "may soon come to understand that Iran does not let actions go unanswered."
