1️⃣ 🇺🇸🇮🇷 US House votes to curb Trump's Iran war powers: The House passed a resolution 214-208, with four Republicans joining Democrats, seeking to bar further attacks on Iran without congressional approval, days after three US service members were killed at a base in Jordan. A parallel measure failed in the Senate 49-47, and both votes are largely symbolic since the president could veto any binding version.
2️⃣ 🇳🇱 ICC's chief prosecutor faces an unprecedented removal vote: The 125 nations of the court's oversight body meet at the UN in New York on Friday to decide whether to permanently remove Karim Khan, accused of sexual misconduct by a female aide in allegations he denies. Khan will not attend the closed-door session because he is barred from the United States after being sanctioned by the Trump administration over the court's investigation into Israeli officials.
3️⃣ 🇸🇦🇺🇸🇮🇱 Trump ties the Saudi nuclear deal to recognizing Israel: President Trump said the civilian nuclear agreement with Saudi Arabia will only proceed if Riyadh joins the Abraham Accords and formally recognizes Israel, adding there would be no uranium enrichment under the plan. The White House confirmed the condition was added after the deal's announcement, which had already drawn alarm from Israeli opposition figures warning of a regional nuclear arms race.
4️⃣ 🇮🇶🇮🇷 Iraq's prime minister makes his first visit to Tehran in office: Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Thursday, his first official trip to Iran since taking office in May, days after his talks with President Trump at the White House. The two sides stressed their shared historical and economic ties and the need to fully implement existing agreements, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.
5️⃣ 🇺🇸🇮🇷 Trump says he is weighing a "massive attack" on Iran: President Trump told Axios he is close to ordering renewed strikes "bigger than ever before," saying Iran "hasn't received enough pain yet," as US forces hit the country for a 13th straight night. Iran struck back at Gulf states, with Kuwait's army reporting incoming missiles and drones, while the UK said it stood "ready to defend itself" after Tehran called Britain's hosting of US strikes an "act of aggression."

🇷🇺 Kremlin readies the ground for a new mobilization
Russia is laying legal groundwork for a possible new mobilization while bracing for domestic unrest, the Institute for the Study of War said this week.
The think tank pointed to fresh legislation letting people with active criminal records, including those convicted of drug trafficking and organized crime, sign military contracts during a formal call-up.
Russia's National Guard has separately proposed powers to protect society from unspecified "dangers" during mobilization or martial law.
Russian President Vladimir Putin insisted the economy remains stable, dismissing disruptions to the fuel sector as temporary despite Ukrainian strikes that have sharply cut refinery output.
The institute said that picture contrasts with mounting strain, citing fuel shortages, rising inflation and a minimum food basket that has grown nearly 8% since the start of 2026.

The ousted leader, who appeared in a beige prison uniform, has called his January capture by US Special Forces a kidnapping and says he is shielded by sovereign immunity.
2️⃣ 🛢️ Oil tops $100 a barrel for the first time since May: Brent crude rose more than 6% on Thursday as escalating US strikes on Iran and Houthi attacks on Red Sea tankers revived fears over global energy supplies. Analysts warned the jump could push petrol, diesel and food prices higher and complicate central banks' efforts to bring down inflation.
3️⃣ 🇺🇸🇮🇱 House passes a $1.15 trillion military bill deepening Israel ties: Republicans narrowly approved the 2027 defense authorization 216-212, funding the Iran war and expanding military-technology cooperation with Israel. The package, which also carries Ukraine aid and Trump's SAVE America voting measure, now faces an uncertain path in the Senate.
