The Pentagon is expected to scrap a planned deployment of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Germany, with U.S. officials concerned that Moscow would view the move as an escalation warranting retaliation, according to two European officials and one American official. 

The decision would reverse a commitment made under the Biden administration, leaving Germany without a long-range precision-strike capability its leaders say is urgently needed. 

American officials are also contending with depleted weapons stockpiles following the Iran war, with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth telling Congress it will take months to years to replenish spent munitions.
